To soar above the cares of Earth,
That’s been my deep desire.
To rid myself of human woe,
To cleanse myself with fire.
Not just the pain of hurt and death,
Though those both must be met.
But too the inside numbing ache,
That comes from thought and fret.
The need for love, to be admired,
Is just the very least.
The fear of hurting, causing pain,
These too can be a beast.
Aside from these there’s something more,
More than sticks and stones.
The words of others hurt like fire,
Causing deep felt moans.
Though some say words won’t damage do,
They cause more than we know.
The hearts of many burst with pain,
Just from the simplest blow.
To soar above these words that kill,
And other cares of earth.
I need to break the chains that hold me
To my land of birth.
I need to reach above what’s firm,
To terra not of sight.
A land of faith that gives me wings,
To soar in freedoms flight.
To soar above the cares of Earth,
That’s been my deep desire.
I reach for faith that gives me hope,
and kindles freedom’s fire.
