Script

Setting:    the banks of the Nile

(enter Daisy, drying herself with a towel)

Daisy: Ooh, that was a lovely swim!  I feel all fresh and reinvigorated!

(enter Buttercup, drying himself with a towel)

Buttercup: You’re not wrong there, Daisy.

(The 2 cows sit down.  Buttercup starts to chew on Daisy’s leg)

Daisy: What are you doing?

Buttercup: Oooh, I don’t know what’s come over me.  I’ve suddenly got this craving for beef!

Daisy: Get off me, you cannibal!

Buttercup: Canni-bull!  Ha ha!  Good joke Daisy!

Daisy: I am not joking.  Get off me!

Buttercup: I can’t help it.  It tastes so good!  But no matter how much I eat, I still feel hungry.  Got to eat more…

Daisy: Oh tell me I’m dreaming.  This is a bad dream – a nightmare!

(enter Joseph)

Joseph: You’re right.

Buttercup and Daisy: Eh?

Joseph: It is a dream.

Daisy: As I thought.  Whoever heard of cows swimming in the Nile?

Buttercup: And whoever heard of cows eating other cows?  But beef does taste good…

Daisy: Don’t you dare!  Now get out of my dream, Buttercup, and leave me alone!

Joseph: It’s not your dream.  It’s Pharoah’s dream.

Daisy: Pharoah?

Buttercup: So, who are you, and what are you doing here?

Joseph: I’m Joseph.  I’ve been asked to interpret this dream.

Buttercup and Daisy: Eh?

Joseph: It’s a long story.  Basically, Pharoah has been having terrible dreams.  God has given me the gift of being able to interpret dreams.  Someone has told Pharoah I can do this and so here I am.

Daisy: So what is this dream all about then?

Joseph: It’s a tricky one, but it seems to me that there are going to be 7 years of good harvests followed by 7 years of famine.

Buttercup: That doesn’t sound too good.

Joseph: No, but at least God has given us a warning.  If Pharoah can find a man to organise things to store up food in the good years, then we should have plenty to keep us going through the bad years.

Daisy: That sounds like a good plan.

Buttercup: That sounds like a very good plan.  (As they all exit)  Here, Joseph, tell us more about this plan.

Joseph: Technically, I shouldn’t really be speaking to you as you are a figment of someone else’s imagination…
