Script
Simeon - I see the young couple enter the gate. They look weary and slightly bewildered. Unsure of what to do or what they have gotten themselves into. And yet something draws my attention to them. There is something, something, something I can’t put my finger on. And then I feel it. That stirring in my spirit telling me that God is at work here.
Anna - Here I am again. Sitting in the temple worshiping God. For years I have stayed here, fasting and praying. Serving God the only way I know how. And yet today somehow feels different. My spirit senses an excitement, like something big is about to happen.
Simeon - I walk towards the young couple and then my eyes land on the child she carries. The Holy Spirit within begins to quicken and my heart begins to race. Could it be? Could this be the child I have been waiting for?
Anna - I look up and see Simeon walking towards a young couple. They are holding a baby. My heart skips a beat and immediately I know. It is him, the messiah, our savior.
Simeon - Oh how I’ve longed for this day.
Anna - How I’ve prayed for this day.
Together - And now it’s here.
Anna - For years, I have fasted and prayed, waiting and daily reminding God of His promise.
Simeon - His promise for new covenant.
Anna - His promise for redemption.
Simeon - Lord, let your servant depart in peace, for my eyes have seen your salvation.
