Characters:
Jude: A loose living individual
Jeff: A friend of Jude

Script:
Jeff: Hey, JUDE!
Jude: (seemingly uninterested in Jeff. Continues Jeff’s line with some singing “Hey Jude” by the Beatles) …don’t make it bad, take a sad song and make it better.
Jeff: What’s going on bro?
Jude: You know, just having a good time making some cash on the side.
Jeff: What do you mean “on the side”?
Jude: Aw come on man, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Investing in my future, securing my financial outcomes, being a good steward of my blessings.
Jeff: …By participating in illegal activities?
Jude: Hey, come on, no one knows what I’m doing. If you’ll just shut up, we’ll keep it that way.
Jeff: Look here, aren’t you at all concerned about what God thinks of all this under the table stuff?
Jude: I’ve got His grace.
Jeff: Excuse me?
Jude: I’ve been saved. Don’t you dare accuse me of disappointing God, when I know some of the things you have done. You’re no saint either.
Jeff: That’s not the point Jude. The point is you’re turning God into this cosmic grace dispenser.
Jude: Grace is getting something I don’t deserve, right?
Jeff: Yeah.
Jude: And so, I’m making sure I get what I don’t deserve. I’m accepting that amazing grace that we talk about so often.
Jeff: You know, for a guy with the name Jude, I would think you would already know the distinction between grace and whatever form of grace you have bought in to.
Jude: Reeeeeeaaallly?!
Jeff: Jude wrote a pretty intense book to all Christians.
Jude: Bringing up the Bible again. Oi. Can’t we just leave that Bible over there, it makes me uncomfortable.
Jeff: My point exactly. You’ve bought into the idea of cheap grace.
Jude: (enticing Jeff) Cheap grace, for some serious cash…
Jeff: Jude, the Bible character, talks about how there were these guys who were preaching the wrong thing about grace. They were teaching you could live however you wanted, as long as you accepted God’s grace.
Jude: Sounds kind of normal to me.
Jeff: It would. Have you ever even read God’s Word?
Jude: Some guys at my school read one of the books in the Bible to me once. I was amazed that Jesus would do what He did for me. And so I accepted His sacrifice for me.
Jeff: And so He became your Savior?
Jude: Oh yeah. (again singing) I’m on the Highway to Heaven!
Jeff: Did you read any of the other books? Did you read about the disciples and how they were taught to follow Christ with the way that they lived? Did you read in James where it says, faith without deeds is dead? How about in Jude where it says those that practice deceit will not inherit the kingdom? There are some serious consequences for what you are doing!
Jude: And so what does grace mean then? Seems like a rip off to me!
Jeff: Grace means you don’t have to be a slave to that anymore. Grace means that you don’t need to experience punishment for your sin because of Christ’s atoning work on the cross. What you are doing is dangerous. It’s dangerous to your faith. It’s dangerous to the rest of your life. Don’t you want to live life safely.
Jude: I don’t know buddy. This all sounds like its going to cost me something.
Jeff: It’s gonna cost you a whole lot more if you continue on the road. It may cost your life and a separation from God’s love. Here, let me tell you what. There are some amazing promises in the book of Jude. I want to look into this book with you. Lets crack open that Bible that you haven’t been reading. Lets get started on the basics.
Jeff: (begins to read the book of Jude) “Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people. I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives…” (Jude 3-4a)
